Comments about Lifetime Lifetime 10 x 8 ft Side-Entry Garden Storage Shed with Double Doors Front and Side:

My wife and I looked at all the preassembled sheds at various home centers and were astounded at the poor quality of most, especially for the price, until we saw a similar Lifetime model to this one on display at [@]. These Lifetime sheds cost much less per size and feature than the home center models we had seen, but you have to build it yourself, which is one reason for significant savings. It's not that difficult to build (about a day, after you have a level base) nor to overcome the errors in part cross references. The parts are well described and hardware bags are sealed in groups for their purposes. But, when you're nearing the completion and have many unopened hardware bags, you have to question if you installed everything. After thorough inspection, we had it complete and the extra six or seven bags of various hardware pieces were not needed. The skylights sealed up well, but the two windows on the front leak. Regarding the door installation, the cotter pins can be difficult to line up with the door hinge and the bushing at the bottom. The hinge comes inserted into the door, but if you have trouble with the cotter pin, slide the hinge out of the door and install it first then lift the door down on the hinge with the hinge and bushing and cotter pin already in place. Regarding the truss assembly, don't overtighten the nuts because it might squeeze the truss to narrow for the roof panels to fit into the truss. Also, you might intuitvely want to install the screws from the outside and the nuts inside the channel, especially if you don't receive the offset screwdriver like us. Don't! The roof panels will NOT fit into the truss channels if you don't follow the instructions. The nuts must be outside the truss channel. If you did not get the offset scredriver, you must go buy one or wait for Lifetime to send one or solve the screw tightening another way. Regarding the large quantity of parts, Lifetime has done an adequate job of providing good instruction. Follow them, regardless of your handy man instincts. Regarding my desire for web access to parts, I want to order a few parts for which I can see a custom use, but they're not available online. And lastly, one of the very attractive features is low to no maintenance. We needed a shed we could build and use, not pamper and repair like wood requires.

Comments about Lifetime Lifetime 10 x 8 ft Side-Entry Garden Storage Shed with Double Doors Front and Side:

Be sure to do an inventory of PARTS BEFORE putting this shed together. We started to assemble and discovered we were missing a couple of parts. We contacted Lifetime and they were great, we had the missing pieces within 5 days and we live in Canada! The shed took a full day and 1/2 to assemble. We had 3 people (one on instructions and 2 doing the actual work) as suggested in the instructions. It went pretty well. Would have been very difficult with less than that... more would have even been better. At times we found the instructions complicated. The part #'s do not always match the instructions or the parts list so that was very confusing at times. That being said we did manage to get thought it and we are NOT HANDY people.
We have been using the shed for a couple of weeks and we love it. The only issue we have had so far is the wall windows (not the sky lights) will leak water with a hard rain and the wind blowing right in their direction. We are going to try chaulking them to try and rectify that. Very attractive, roomy and fuctional.
