Comments about Lifetime Lifetime 11 x 13.5 ft Outdoor Storage Shed Building:

[...] The building is packaged in four boxes on a pallet with the whole thing wrapped in plastic. Each box weights about 250 pounds and is about 4'x7'x2'. Lifetime does a good job with the packaging. The manual is in box one but I recommend printing it out from the website, three hole punching it and put it into a binder. Make sure you spend an hour or so reviewing the instructions before starting into the construction!I recommend building it on a concrete pad versus wood. It is situated lower to the ground needing less of a ramp for getting things in and out of it. I did a 4" pad which took about 1.8 yards of concrete. The extra money spent on concrete was worth it. Per the instructions, I made sure the pad was poured to be very level and I had no problems putting the building walls and frame together.Construction took about 18 hours. About 6 hours was just by myself with the other 12 with a friend who likes to be involved with these types of projects. It was completed over the weekend. The many pieces and bags of parts, nuts and bolts was at first a little overwhelming but quickly began to make sense because of the level of detail provided in the excellently written user manual. No parts where missing and no calls for help were required!I was very pleased with the mechanical engineering that went into this product. It was easy to look at the pictures in the manual and instantly relate that to each part and how they go together. It helps to remove all the steel parts from the four boxes and lay them out side by side. Also when you begin to put the walls up and then roof, position them around the pad before starting each phase.I took one deviation from the manual in the area of anchoring it to the pad. The manual states put the plastic floor on, mark where the holes are to be drilled and remove the floor. I just drilled through the plastic floor with the masonary bit right into the concrete using a 4" bit. You can do this for the side holes but the four needed along the back wall and two on the front wall were not discussed and the location is not obvious until after the building is up. I just drilled the front and back anchor holes after the building was up. I used sleave anchors and you need 16 of them, not 14 as the manual states. Take your time, have fun and happy construction!

Beautiful storage for our Harley Davidson and plenty of room for our son's bike when needed. It has plenty of extra room for backyard winter storage of chair pads, umbrellas and camping gear.

Comments about Lifetime Lifetime 11 x 13.5 ft Outdoor Storage Shed Building:

I bought this shed last August, and I'm happy to have done so. It arrived in an 18-wheeler, in about seven long and very heavy boxes; the driver dropped them off right at my garage door, and wheeled them in for me.

There are many pages of instructions, and MANY bags of small parts, and many similar looking shed components--somewhat of a drawback.

I built it in my spare time over two weekends, plus some time during the weekday evenings, with help from my 13-year-old son. It was a good father-son project, and he learned some good things about plastic/metal and wood construction.

A surprise was the floor. I knew it came with one, but it was not sturdy. Poured concrete would make the best base for it, but the instructions note that a 2x4 floor frame covered with plywood would work, as would a well-smoothed and packed fine gravel/dirt base. I went with the wood, so my son could get some experience with basic carpentry, but it added $150 to the project cost.

There were no surprises during setup, although some of the instructions could have been rewritten to improve clarity and comprehension. Some parts look much like others, and we ended up using the wrong parts in some stages, and had to remove them because they were required in later steps. Not too bad a problem.

When finished, this shed looks great and feels solid. During a snow & wind storm on Christmas, a large conifer fell squarely on the shed. The trunk of this tree was about 14" in diameter. One branch broke through the roof and held the tree there. It wasn't too much trouble to cut off the overhanging part of the tree, then cut the trunk, and finally slide the remainder off the roof. The hole made by the branch was about 2" wide, and some caulk and a temporary wooden plug fixed it for the winter. Now I just have to order a new roof panel to replace it.

I'm happy with this shed, and wouldn't hesitate to purchase another just like it. The tree hitting the shed weighed several tons, but the shed didn't buckle or bow or move--a testimony to the steel supports in the walls and roof.

I bought this building from a local [...] in June of 2009 and am just now getting it put up in February 2010. It sat outside in four large boxes for all this time, and to my surprise, was still in perfect shape when it came time to assemble it.I am overall very pleased with the building. For the amount of material and the amount of assembly involved, I believe it was a little pricey, so shop around and look for special sales, etc. I have mine laying on a concrete pad. Preparing a level, solid surface is the key to getting this building together properly and without a lot of adjusting, pulling and tugging. The directions say it takes two people to assemble the building in the time frame "the better part of a weekend.." I assembled mine right by myself in about 4 hours one day, 8 hours the next, and maybe 2-3 to finish the final touches. EVERYTHING comes unassembled, even the door hardware, so be willing to take some time. Follow the directions carefully, and when tightening screws, most of them are going into vinyl, NOT METAL, so don't overtighten! Again, this is a nice little building and seems durable. You might be able to build or buy a wood building kit for much less, but the advantage to vinyl is the fact you can pretty much wash the whole darn thing down, inside and out, and never worry about painting it, or it rottening. I'm overall pleased with this product.
